Do you have an Entrepreneurial Dream?

By on Aug 24, 2012 in Challenges for Start-ups, Entrepreneurship

An AGM wants to open a coffee shop, the hospitality manager wants to have a social media agency. Those in retail – plan to have a designer label and the stud guy in the corporate sector- wants to run a automobile modification boutique. Ah! Look at the operations guy – he is considering the options to venture out and the banker is ready to jump into events.  And here is an entrepreneur who wants to make it big so that she can own a Bookshop in the old age! So many dreams around us, what are we thinking then?

Lately, I have noticed that most of the people have started believing in the term ‘parallel path’. Yes the increased disposable income has lead to over-spending and with the inflation peaking; most of my clients have the opinion – why leave a job? But many have got a dream – an Entrepreneurial Dream

Entrepreneurship is no more a distant dream. Currently it is the fad with convincing FAB approach. Yes, I am talking about Features>>Advantages>>Benefits. And why shall one hide off? You have an idea and you are passionate about it, you are serious about business and yes, this is the time to set off.

Even entrepreneurs are spreading their wings. Why not? They too are entitled to parallel paths. It is the need of the hour, the time and the economy demands it. The increasing job insecurity, raising competition – everything works in favor of having an alternate career.

Remember, for Entrepreneurs – the opportunities are never few but what matters is passion they have for it.

Start NOW.

Why now is the apt time? It’s because of the increased demand and opening up of the concept of alternate careers, the society is fast adopting the trend and parents are welcoming the ideas of careers in art, humanities, sociology etc. These are no more mundane options and even the smart can choose it, unlike 5 years back when these were considered the subjects for below average students by most of our ever progressing middle class families.

Parents are listening, exploring and agreeing. Kids are turning smarter – they know they have to study and master an art or two. Education is opening up avenues, schools are no more about just grades, they cultivate your hobbies, skills and interests. Goodness…multiple avenues!

And that’s why this is the time. Start NOW.

Every IDEA cannot be BIG

Remember, there is nothing like a BIG idea or a small idea. If it is a workable idea, relevant and practical, then it is a good idea. Mostly big things come in small packets, which are how a business shall start. Do not put too much of brains thinking about results. Have smaller goals; concentrate on the results for task at hand; as this way only, you can make it big.

I know people who started with a take away Tiffin point as a parallel path with their corporate jobs and few of them have now extended to 2 eateries. There are those, who work on a parallel path and slowly lead their decision to the point when they can quit the job to write their own story. All these, might not sound too big an achievement but that certainly shows growth & progression. When I jumped into entrepreneurial space – all I had in my mind was to earn at least an equal amount of the annual salary. This was to assure myself of my own decision. Thankfully, I could do it and my venture sustained.

EFFORT Counts – If not now, surely a little later

Yes. Entrepreneurship follows the same principle of happiness and pain. Everybody wants success and no one wants pain but we can say, since entrepreneurship offers a lot more than a job – if that doesn’t happen readily in monetary terms – be assured with efforts money will follow, and it surely offers much more in terms of satisfaction, achievement, belief and faith. It empowers your soul.

But everything happens for those who take pains, follow perseverance, keep faith in their dream, work relentlessly, have the capability to ignore irrelevant decisions and stick to their plan.

Remember, everybody wants happiness, nobody wants pain but you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain.

Dream Big. Make.Believe.
